What every freelance invoice includes
Your name or business name and contact details; the client's name and email; a unique invoice number; the issue date and due date; line items with quantity and rate; tax if you charge it; the total; and payment instructions.

Hourly work invoices as hours × rate, ideally per task so the client can see what the time bought. Project work invoices per deliverable or per phase. Both work; clarity is what gets you paid.
Write terms you'll actually enforce
